OSHA HazCom 2026: GHS Rev. 7 Compliance Deadlines Are Here β Is Your SDS Library Ready?
OSHA’s updated Hazard Communication Standard β aligning U.S. rules with the 7th Revised Edition of the UN’s Globally Harmonized System (GHS Rev. 7) β took effect July 19, 2024. But the compliance deadlines are landing right now. Chemical manufacturers, importers, and distributors had until May 19, 2026 to update SDSs and labels for substances. Downstream employers must update workplace labeling, written HazCom programs, and employee training by November 20, 2026. Updated hazard classifications now include new categories such as flammable gases, aerosols, desensitized explosives, and chemicals under pressure β meaning many existing SDSs require immediate revision. Non-compliant documents expose your organization to OSHA citations and significant penalties. If you haven’t audited your SDS library against GHS Rev. 7 yet, the time is now.
